| | | | | | Street Dance - Music for Solo Piano by Patrick Beckman | | | Our Price: $9.95 | | | | Item Number: MMC2165 | | Audio Format: CD | | | | Description | |
"The idea behind Street Dance is a desire to take a number of styles of music that could have been heard at a real 'street dance' in, say, the late 60’s and stylize the various vocabularies and work them into a whole. To take these various 'dances' and then use them in a way suited for the concert hall. There are many antecedents for the “dance suite” concept and I would assume most pianists would be familiar with at least the majority of these. It is into this particular genre that Street Dance projects itself.
I feel that calling the nature of this presentation 'eclectic' would refer to its ingredients that still retain their own individual characteristics rather than being absorbed into the whole, to the structure. Genres that are not connected to the past in some way lack the perspective that is necessary to give life to the work itself."
